Hoping for some technical wisdom.........

I have a rather old Raymarine RL80C Chartplotter on my boat, and it works just fine.

I have acquired a second hand Raymarine Ray260E VHF - AIS that I plan on replacing my very old non DCS VHF with.

As the new VHF has AIS built in to it, is it possible to connect it to the chartplotter to display AIS information?

Hoping for a non technical answer.

Thanks

Graham

From what I see, no it cant.

although AIS data can be transferred by nmea0813 the receiver (the RL80C in your case) would need to know how to read it. Since AIS either didn't exist or was extremely rare at the time the RL80C was phased out I highly doubt they updated the software to read the data.

I have the same plotter. Sure would be great if it could do that

No it will not transfer data.tried it 4 yrs ago,and raymarine tech tried it last year .

I tried as well. It will not work.
