My raydome sits flush on my arch, and its horizontal with the boat at rest. When the boats on plane, its obviously tilted up. Do I need to put a wedge underneath it to help keep it horizontal while the boats at plane? I have noticed it doesn't pick up all boats that are in front of us while we are on plane.

That would be a good idea since its what is in front of you that you want to see with the radar.

If its only an inch or so you need, you may be able to just make or buy some spacers for the rear bolts between the dome and the arch. You could probably make them out of starboard, but just be sure to seal where the bolts go into the arch if that is how it is mounted.

My radar was installed at the factory. I would assume that this would be addressed at design. My sits flush at rest (I assume)...would it be angled to the rated dead rise of the boat thus not operating correctly?

Mine sits flush on the arch, but also when the boat is at rest, it sits horizontal to the water line. So when I'm on plane, its tilted up towards the front, not getting all the targets in front of me. Spacers is my idea...I don't care to pay $50 plus for a piece of starboard that will make it difficult to clean under as well!

But wait a second. If you are in conditions needing the radar, why are you on plane? If I am in fog or limited visibility, I am sure the heck not going to be on plane but at a hull speed of about 1,200 rpms or less. Than my radar is parallel to the water.

True...but I use it while on plane in good visibility conditions. I was amazed how it didn't pick up every target, and from some research this may help. Typically when its foggy, or dark, I'm moving at a no wake speed as you describe, and don't need to see many miles out.

The real question is it working properly. If your picking up targets as you say why mess with it?

True. Is it mounted flush on your Formula? I may try playing with the settings first..

I believe it sits pretty level when not on plane. There must be a fair bit of latitude with the level both fore & aft and left to right. Depending on load, speed, etc your bow may be different heights. Also left to right balance varies as well. You can try and see what happens with your targets when you are in a gentle turn as well.

Thanks. Looks like a small amount of shim may help.

Manually adjusting the gain instead of leaving it on automatic made a huge difference. Didn't even lose targets during a pretty tight turn.
