hi was wondering if i could get some help, i am buying a 2006 340 sundancer and the chartplotter is missing, when purchased from the factory, does it come with a seperate gps antenna that says ray marine on it, or is it just a small antenna thats white on the top left, im new to this so any help would be great, also should i reinstall orginal equipment or buy something better and if so which units would you reccomend

It would have come with a small Raymarine GPS antenna, may say Raymarine across the top. Google Raystar 125 and you will see what it looks like.

If you have nothing, you may want to start fresh with a complete integrated set of new technology. Raymarine is in financial difficulty so that is a bit of a gamble. Search around, you will find some good advice on this site and on "The Hull Truth" in their electronics forum.

Did you have the boat surveyed before buying? If so, was there an integrated electronics package (gps, radar, DSM and auto-pilot) noted on the survey? If any or all of this was noted on the survey or you know it's still on the boat and in working condition you might want to stay with Raymarine. If not, Creekwood has it right. The right chartplotter is the first step for your suite of electronics. Good luck.
