I'm in the market to add some basic fishfinder/depth/chartplotter functionality for a new-to-us 290 DA. We spend most of our time in bay's that are off Lake ontario, with trips in between them. The furthest we would travel in either direction would be Rochester->toronto or Rochester-> Thousand Islands.

With that in mind, what does everyone think of the a67 from Raymarine as a standalone unit for basic chartplotting and sonar? The only fishing we do is shallow water bass fishing off the back of the boat, so no in depth fish finding capability is really needed. No need for radar at the moment either.

Thanks all

It's a good unit from raymarine, but I think the screen may be a bit small. If the a97 is an option for you, it has an internal sounder and gps antenna so you don't need anything extra, plus raymarine has a rebate out now for $200 back on that model.

Ordered! Can;t wait to get it and take a look. I'm hoping to shift some things around on our 290 DA and get it in the lower dash somehow. I'm not opposed to glassing in a custom mount somehow, I'll be sure to post pictures

thanks again

That's great, I can't wait to see. Don't hesitate to pick up the phone and talk to the folks at BOE if you have questions, their super helpful.

received the unit last week and fired it up in the house to play around a bit. Great little display, and the most recent software update really sped it upI have a 98 290DA with 5.7efi/alphas. I'd like to at least get an idea of how (or if) I can hook those motors up to the nmea interface of the a68. The raymarine site only talks about Volvo motors for their gateway, are there others that can convert the engine bus to valid data?
