Raymarine 215

I'm a bit frustrated and would like any input. I have a perfect working wonderful Raymarine 215 that came with my boat. As normally happens the cord for the mic has disintegrated due to UV light over time. I said, no problem. I'll just go buy a replacement mic........I go to find out Raymarine doesn't sell the mic any longer. The classsic "not available". I called Raymarine and they won't even talk about. Buy the 218 for $500 they say. This infuriates me since my radio is perfect. I'm very good with soldering and electrics so I bought a 5 strand coil off of e-bay and replaced the cord but it's still not as nice as having a nice new mic and cord. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there any company out there that sells a compatible mic that might work with the unit? If not it sounds like a pretty good business..........

You can buy the whole radio on ebay used pretty cheap. That is the only solution I can think of. At least your mic clip is good, that is usually what breaks for everyone else.
