Picked up my first Sea Ray recently, an '05 280DA. It had an inop VHF with what appears to be a typical issue, the mic cord was rotted away. Replacement cords are available at $75+, which was too close to the price of a new radio.
I tried getting the pinout from Raymarine support with no luck (the wires into the plug were pulled out and no way to reverse engineer the pinout to put a new generic mic cord in place).
Picked up a Standard Horizon GX-1300 for $132, with a $30 rebate. Using some sheet aluminum and some sweat equity I built a new mounting plate to cover the old hole and fit the GX-1300, which is quite a bit smaller than the original Ray 215. Some zinc chromate primer and black satin enamel to seal it. Spliced the connector from the original radio on the lead wires for the GX and good to go. Total dollars out $100 (radio), $10 (surface mount brackets), and $12 (cover).
