I have a select 220 with a 350 mag and I need to repair/replace the raw water pump but there is very limmited access to the pump. If anybody has done this repair I was wondering what all did you have to do remove the pump.
There is no easy way on your boat. Upside down, backwards and inside-out comes to mind...:smt101
The pump is way down there and that rear seat is pretty close to the engine, not leaving much room. The starboard-side storage area of the engine compartment isn't really big enough to get in it comfortably. But, I'm just telling you things you already know.
It can be done without removing major parts of the boat - but you'll be doing some of it by feel - meaning you may not be able to see everything you do.
If you've never attempted this before, think hard before you start. You may just want to bite the bullet and hire someone.
