Raw water pump labor charge

Was your boat at their shop? If there was any travel and/or it was in the water, then wouldn't think it would be hard to burn up 4 hours. It is also not unheard of for a lead hand to just tag a bit of time onto random open wo's in this neck of the woods to cover his time before closing them. As mentioned, nothing wrong with asking questions.

I believe what Ducky meant was that your question ("Is this a fair amount that I paid") is a common question to be posted on forums... which it is - a common question, that is.

Correct.

I believe you are good on your hours and labor charges ...... wouldn't worry about it.

You are blessed to be in an area to enjoy your boat 365 days a year so if you spread your maintenance cost over how many hours you spend on your boat compared to someone in a northern climate you are actually paying quite a bit less per hour happy times afloat. ;):)

See it's all in the perspective.

I did take the boat to their shop. After reading all the posts, I feel a lot better about this.

Could be the labor to remove and reinstall the old pulley as well? I once paid the Marina to replace a leaky raw water pump on our previous 320. I think they charged us $800 plus (with the pump). I complained until i had to do it myself....i stopped complaining...lol

I just had a new raw water pump installed on my Mag 350 engine, and was charged 4 hours labor at $105 an hour.
I certainly believe everyone should receive a decent wage, but this sounds excessive. I would have thought less than an hour to take off the old one, and less than an hour to install the new one. Am I out of touch with reality and being too picky?
I just had mine done and was charge 4 hrs, on my 240 its really tight

Labor rate seems pretty fair. Lower than it is around here.
Some pumps are a pain to get to. Add a problem arising, like broken or bounded bolt, and you can get to 4 hours pretty easily.
My port one is easy enough to get to, but changing the impeller on the starboard one is best accomplished by removing the exhaust on that motor and re-installing it afterwards.
