My Starboard engine was leaking water, so after 2 hours and a lot of sweat, I was able to replace a broken clamp and stop the leak. However, the PSI at idle is still only about 2.1, which is significantly less than the Port engine which has 24 PSI.

The "Cool Fuel" assembly has turned green from corrosion. This is some type of combination of the Fuel Pump and raw water intake (I think).

Can anyone tell me the normal operating PSI range?

Also, can anyone share their experience with Mercury Product Protection? The clamp should not have failed after 90 hours - so either the clamp was too big, over-tightened, or both. Therefore, I want to get the Cool Fuel system replaced before it fails completely.

I know that with 90 hours and 3 seasons on the engines, I need to change the impellers, but I would prefer to wait until next Spring on that job.

Thanks

I think your pressure should be around 2 psi. The 24 psi number on your other engine sounds like a sender problem. According to my Mercury shop manual pressure should be around 20 psi @4000RPM.

Mine is around 2 psi at idle.

I agree that it must be a sender problem. I plan to take it out this weekend and I'll check the PSI at 4,000 RPM's.

Thanks!!
