I have a 2005 Sea Ray 270 Amberjack with 496 Mercruiser Mag engine. I recently replaced the raw water pump. Now I have a small hose coming off the top of the pump (above the air fittings) that is not connected to anything. I don't remember disconnecting it and don't see any place for it to connect. It is about 18 inches long and probably 3/8" diameter. The end does not show any marks from being on a barb fitting or hose clamp. Any ideas on what it's for and where it should go?

I cannot find any reference to it in any manuals or online.

There is a T fitting about 8 inches back with a hose about that long that connects to the bottom of the manifold for a drain. Any chance that came off during installation?

That hose is a vent line connected to the top of the single point drain cylinder. It is installed from the factory, and is simply routed over the top of the engine mounted water circulation pump and down the other side of the engine. It does not connect to anything. Route it neatly over the top of your circulating pump, or over the top of the timing cover, and move on - you're done.

Thanks! I suspected it didn't connect to anything because the end didn't show any evidence. However, when you find a random hose hanging after doing something you don't want to take any chances....

That hose is in place. This one was connected to the raw water pump on one end. Dale answered the question for me. Thanks!
