It seems to be feast or famine in the Southeast when it comes to rain. Several years ago we had a drought that caused lake levels to drop so much we couldn't boat. This year it is too much rain and it has caused a lot of problems all summer long with constant flooding, roads washing out, and in general keeping our lake a big mess. This is what one of the public ramps adjacent to our Marina looked like on Monday after one of our rivers flooded badly upstream. All of that water empties directly into our lake.

There were literally islands of debris on our lake. Much of that stuff inundated our Marina as well but luckily most of it moved back out the next day.

I know we are not alone with all this excess rain but it sure would be nice to catch a break so our lake would clean up and we could do a little boating this year.

This weekend should be good,........so......:smt001 to you!!!!! I can't make to the lake this weekend, however, it is still good since I agreed to spend the weekend at a nice hotel downtown to celebrate my wife's birthday. You know....."happy wife, happy life".

Dave,

Luckily, Lake Murray has remained relatively clean during this year's monsoon season.

See picture below - Beautiful Water! You need to move your boat about 60 miles to the south.

Lake Murray or Lake Wylie................mmmmmmmm tough decision.

We'd like to have a month of rain in central TX - Lake Travis is down 56.5'

Lake Keowee has remained in fairly good condition too, but I hear ya about the rain.... beginning to think God is taking back his promise not to flood us again for 40 days and 40 nights. My yard is a swamp and has been so for the past month.

You guys aren't alone...........Way up here our boat season started in late May (waiting for the ice to melt). That was exactly 8 months after I had winterized in September. That leaves us with a 4 month window for boating. Throw in crap weather, wind, rain, work, lots of flooding this year, some lakes closed cause of debris.........sometimes I wonder why I own this thing.
But when we finally do get out, it's sure worth the wait.

We have been getting rain almost every day this year, pretty rare for a bright-sunny day this spring/summer. Lots of crap in the TN River, havent hit anything hard enough to do any damage but I did pick up a small tree that got caught in the trim hoses and lost like 7mph at 3800rpm. Thought something was wrong with the engine until I put it on the lift and there was a tree attached to the back of the boat lol.

What a tragedy. I've been wishing to go to The Oasis restaurant the next time I'm in Texas, but suppose the view would depress me now.

Great views still ... just have to look past the enlarged shoreline

Took a trip up our lake yesterday to check on the condition of the waters. Not too much debris left in the water and it is less muddy but there are still some hazards out there. There is one huge (what appears to be) tree stump right in one of the main channels. In talking with one of the locals, he said it is apparently a huge tree that buried itself in the bottom of the lake. The authorities have tried to move it several times but it is stuck fast and won't budge. It will present a nighttime hazard for sure. I saw some remnants of large dead trees stuck fast in one of the local sand bars as well and there are lots of logs and debris now on the shore edge as well and then of course there are the hidden underwater things you don't see. In addition many marker buoys have been pulled out of position by debris as it moved down the lake. Found one buoy with a huge island of weeds still surrounding it. I didn't head south on the lake so the water may still not be as good as everything moves down stream there.

But all in all if we don't have any more big rain deluges, we can finally get back to boating.
