Upgraded Clarion radio (2004 280 Sundancer) and surprised I now need 8-pin remote cable. I do have wireless remote but don’t like it. Any ideas on how to get cable routed from radio to cockpit to new remote? Was thinking there might be a way to go thru lower birth but I haven’t started pulling any panels yet. Thanks to all!!!!!

They do make a 6-8 pin adapter if you wanted to keep the old remote and cable in place. With a 280, assuming you just have one wired remote? I'll be doing this soon (new Clarion and 2 new Clarion 8-pin remotes). Since the radio is not far from the helm I'm hoping once the bulkhead panel comes off, I can get to the remote cable for the remote at the helm.

Just curious: which head unit and remotes did you choose?
I have the Clarion M508 and the wireless remote. It works ok, but want to replace old/unused old oval remote so bought remote MW1. I’m not sure adapter will work as I think one of the 8 pins is power. The old remote w/ 6 pins also has separate power wire I believe. Under dash all wires look to be going forward and wires behind electrical panel all go aft. Was think I could run new cable behind lower bed where amp is and go under bed and somehow gain access to under dash. Thought I’d ask around before doing any dismantling!!!

Ok, I did check the 300 parts diagram and owners manual, which does show some wiring harnesses, but nothing for the radio. Since your helm remote is so close to the head unit, the wiring has to be right back there :D I plan on doing the 8-pin remote too, since by the time you upgrade the head unit, why not get the extra features on a new remote too? I like the MW4 for the features but it seems to have bad reviews.
