i currently have an 06 290 sundancer. i installed a c80 plotter with gps and left extra strings from the arch to the panel. my question is because of the forward arch design do i need a bracket or mount for the radar.i want to use the 18" dome and my glomax antennae is currently in the middle of the arch with the light behind it.
any suggestions would be of help

You MIGHT make it with the 290 as it has more of an arch than the 280. I needed the mount on our 280 as there's not enough space on the arch to get to the canvas. (The dome overlapped the zippers. Check the distance between the zippers. If you have 20+ inches, you may be OK without a mount. You'll have to move the light over t the side. GPS should also be on the other side. Radar in the middle. Disassemble the blomex and give it to a couple kids at the marina who can use the 2 halves as decent frisbees.

You might consider a mount to get the radar beam above the GPS and TV antennas. Having the beam at close distance cross these antennas can't be good for the input amplifiers in the GPS and TV distribution module.

i dont mind losing the glomex as it gives me 1 fuzzy channel. i could mount it there. the gps is already off to the side and sat radio on other side. both of these antennae are flush mounted. any idea if i should be using a wedge at least for a better radar angle?

Look at your radar manual but the beam is probably around plus or minus 12 degrees from the horizontal plane of the radar. You'll want to compensated a little for the boat's planing angle so it "depends" how much of a bow up attitude you typically run at. Additionally, you'll want to keep your GPS and XM antennas out of the 12 degree zone the radar radiates in.
