We are looking at moving up to a 340 (or maybe 350 ) from our 260. The local dealer MM has a 340 in stock that has just about everything except a radar dome and Sat TV. The helm display is a Raymarine C80 I believe. What is a good radar dome for the 340, will it be able to display over the GPS tracker map? What is a good price to pay installed, I know the basic price for various dome brands from BOE are around $1000 for the 2Kw 18" and $1500 for the 4kw 24". I installed a Garmin 198C (GPS & Sonar) on my 260, is the radar install more involved?

Anyone have a Sat TV? Details like cost, per month fees and is it worth it?

Thanks and Happy Holidays,

Mike

With the C or E80 you should go with the Raydome..depending on how much open sea boating you are doing the 18" 2KW should be fine, and will be able to be used on top or in combination with the GPS Chartplotter. As far as cost; I did a google search on the one I wanted, bought it online and had it installed along with a bunch of other electronics at the same time..You should see if the 340 has the module for the Digital Raymarine sonar , and make sure the GPS is hooked up to the VHF for your DSC. Another great thing to get is the sat. weather. I have Garmin which is connected to XM, and the XM weather is fantastic. Raymarine is hooked into Sirius so you can look into that as well.

I looked into Sat. for my 320, between the KVH and also Sea King, and the Sea King actually was a little cheaper and HD, but for now it isn't worth the cost of the unit or the monthly fee for me. I put in a new 26" HDTV in the bulkhead in the cabin and can get the local HD channels fine.

Good luck with your purchase!! Let us know how it goes..
Happy New Year!

Barryg,

Thanks for the info. Did you need to change the boat TV antenna for the HDTV?
