In responding to someone, how do you create the quote in the commonly used blue boxed background? I understand the quote function itself, but cannot seem to figure out how to highlight and condense it down. I guess the condensing part would/could come from reducing the font size now that I think about it, but the highlight part has me stumped. Any tips?

On a similar note, has the idea to “tier†posts ever been tossed around (the current format is perfect, only throwing it out there)? When you respond to someone, it would tier it below the initial post or response. It is a bit difficult to articulate. I participate on several Yahoo Finance message boards where “tiering†of posts is used. It enables the poster to more chronologically place their post, instead of posting at the bottom of the entire post if that makes since? If you go to Yahoo Finance, choose your most favorite ticker and look in the message board section you would have a better idea as to what I am talking about……the more I type the more I am confusing myself here! Again, just a fleeting thought.

Your first and easiest thing to do is to click the "Quote" button on the upper right of a post.

What this does is takes the text and puts the "Quote" tags around it. You can also use the "Quote" button when edting a post.

This test is quoted but has no name.
To do the above you put
Code:
[quote]This test is quoted but has no name.[/quote]

Code:
[quote="Someone's Name"]This is a quote with someones name being used.[/quote]

Hope this helps.

Do I need to add the brackets open and closed around what I would like to quote? When I hit the quote button, it does indeed past it into my essage, along with brackets, etc. but, it doesn't clean it up, box it in blue, etc. I'm a bit slow and my assumption is that it is very simple and I am unable to see the forest throguh the trees!
