Quote thread..

A couple of takes on the whole foolproof ideology:
"When you make something foolproof, only a fool will use it."
and..
"When you make something foolproof, they'll invent a better fool."

“Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good.”
― Thomas Sowell

“People who pride themselves on their "complexity" and deride others for being "simplistic" should realize that the truth is often not very complicated. What gets complex is evading the truth.”
― Thomas Sowell

Im honestly surprised I haven’t seen Thomas Sowell in here yet. The world could use a lot more of his wisdom

I have some rereading to do

As I get closer to pulling the trigger on an early retirement decision, I have come up with a mod to a quote:

He who dies with the most toys, wins.
But he is just as dead as the guy with the least toys.

Can't take them with you...but can't take the cash with you either...lol

Reminds me of another quote;

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”

- Hunter S. Thompson

I disagree sir. Toys do not mean shit. Its the relationships with family, friends, etc that you will be remembered for. Thats the win win in my opinion.

I like that, I stared this thread with my favorite quote of all time from jack London

The proper function of man is to LIVE, not to exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.

I couldn’t agree more sir. But one anomaly seems to be the more toys I have the more I notice family and friends wanting to spend time with me….
