Woody Boyd: "Never trust a man who can't look ya in the eye. Never talk when you can listen. And never spend venture capital on a limited partnership without a detailed, analytical fiduciary prospectus

Obviously he’s never been south of Toledo :D:D
Grew up in Cleveland suburbs. Then lived 4 years in SE Ohio, in the Appalachians. Among the ‘mountain folk’ learned what a holler is. Wow just wow. Seen poverty y’all can’t imagine. People on North Ave in Baltimore live like kings compared to those folks. I would love to retire there but cant, an ‘outer’, wouldn’t be welcome or trusted, they just different.
Sorry be a debbie downer. It left a mark on me Ajax cant scrub off.

Never heard that before; great! While we say "The squeaky wheel gets the grease, the Japanese variant I heard is "The nail that sticks up gets hammered down.

I had worked with this older, very wise gentleman, who as a co-worker, I became very fond of. He never threw stones or criticized anyone else. Pretty much kept that to himself. We had this other co-worker that had to chime in on every conversation anyone was having and throw his 2 cents in, most of the time he knew nothing about the item being discussed. One time he upset someone with his comments, and my wise old friend told the person that was upset. Don't listen to what he has to say just remember "The emptiest drum makes the loudest noise"
One of my true life analogies learned tested and find true almost every day.

A customer at the auto parts store asked the old school guy behind the counter “how tight should the lug nuts on my car be?”

His reply: tighten them till they break and then back it off 1/4 turn.

Back in my younger days I worked at an auto parts store. Me and my buddy were working the counter and the other guy was stocking shelves. We ordered lunch and got busy so told the other guy to pay for the food when it got there. By the time it got there we had a bunch of people in line. The 3rd guy paid him and asked if he should leave a tip. My buddy said 'yeah, tell him not to pick his nose with mittens'. Everyone in there busted out laughing except the delivery guy...lol

When I was training to do an Ironman triathlon I could ride the bike and run no problem.
Swimming was a different story.

Coach Eric:
Swimming is like wrestling a gorilla. You just have to keep going until the gorilla gets tired.

Edit: It could actually apply to a lot of different challenges in life.
