Yesterday I was out cruising with the genrator on, after I came to the anchorage I noticed the generator had shut off. I tried restarting it and noticed it was blowing exhaust and raw water into the bilge. This might expalin why the previous trip my CO monitor was going off. It shut itself down however a solenoid was clicking that I beleive is related to its' fuel system. It stopped when I disconnected the generator's battery. I'm guessing an exhaust manifold failure; any other ideas? Why was the solenoid clicking?

I have a Quicksilver 8KW. A few years ago I had problem with the cast iron section that screws into the manifold with 1.5" pipe failed. The pipe rusted through. Replaced pipe and that fall I took the manifold off. It had never off I think. The heat exchangers were 99% plugged off, the end cap was corroded threw. It did not leak because of the deposits in it, the cast iron raw water cooler that screwed into the manifold was also corroded threw but did not leak because it was coated with deposits. I managed to get new parts and all is well. There are many threads on Quicksilver generators have a look.
