My Quicksilver QS-6.5G generator wasn't getting fuel, so I replaced the fuel pump. I replaced it with an Airtex E8251 designed for small carburetor marine engines. Cost me $52 at JK Auto Parts up the street from me, but on Amazon I've seen it for $50. The Quicksilver part# 811508 / Generac 74024 which the parts list calls for was $130 elsewhere. You'll see below in a photo that when I compared the fuel pumps they are 99% identical! Original turned out to be an AC Delco EP89. I had to get brass fittings from Home Depot to make the original hoses fit. Ideally you'd want a Brass Reducer Adapter, 1/4" NPT Female X 1/8" NPT Male, on both ends. I used a 1/8 brass nipple, and 1/4 x 1/8 brass coupling on both ends from Home Depot as you can see in the photos below to achieve the connections. Also I used plumbers tape on every connection. The brass fittings and plumbers tape cost me like $12 total I think. As you see in another photo I also reused the original mounting bracket too. Install was fairly easy. So for $64 and I had a perfect fit with the Airtex E8251 marine fuel pump for my Quicksilver QS-6.5G generator. After install started right up! Also make sure your batteries are in good working order, mine were dead and apparently the generator will not run if your batteries are dead or bad.

How'd you know what replacement pump to buy? Did you bring it in and match it up? Nice work! QSs are a real challenge to get parts for b/c Mercruiser completely washed their hands of them years ago.

That's an electric fuel pump? Never realized that. Had one for almost 10 years. Never paid any attention to it b/c it worked.

Yea, its a 12v solenoid fuel pump. I did a LOT of researching for a decent replacement, and was shocked how identical they were in the end, because I never physically compared them until I started the replacement process. During my research from reading bunch of posts online I realized I needed a 12v fuel pump that has around 3-4 PSI for a carburetor engine. So I started browsing for fuel pumps with those specs, and came across this one online which puts out 2.5-4.5 PSI, plus designed for marine use, so I thought I'd give it a shot, and turned out it was a 99% perfect replacement! When I searched by the Quicksilver part # (Quicksilver 811508 / Generac 74024) it was $130.

Thanks for the info! I just ordered the new pump from Amazon $47.58 with tax (I'm in CA and Amazon collects the tax). My 340 sat for a long time and all the fuel was bad. I've since replaced the fuel filters twice, both engine fuel pumps, the carbs, and now the gen fuel pump. I'm crossing my fingers that I won't need to replace the gen carb!

Thanks again

Nice work. Printed off your post.I will probably need one eventually. Now all you need to do is find us a raw water pump direct replacement.

Thanks for the tips and info. safe to assume the "Brown" wire on the new fuel pump is the "Positive" and goes to the "White" on the quicksilver gen wiring?
