Quick release chocks

The whole process takes a few minutes to remove which is really not all that bad as we talk about it but I can see myself dropping the bolts in the water at some point. Like Joe said it is nice to have the platform clear of all obstructions once removed. I guess if there was a way to keep the bolts in place but still allow them to slide in and out it wouldn't be so bad.

I would try to keep spares on that for sure, I would drop them in. You know, Murphy's law...

I did not see you had a track system in the first pictures. It makes more sense now, seeing the closeup pics,

I've only had mine out twice in ~5 years, dropping a bolt in the process this last time... Year's worth of crud had them in there pretty snug so I had to use a rubber mallet to get them moving. Probably not a bad idea to remove them now and again to clean up the track.

Wondering if there is a quick release version/option for these chocks. Would like to be able to put them on and off without having to deal with the bolts. View attachment 64131
Does anyone know who the manufacturer of the chocks is? I would like to get new pads, but can’t seem to find anything. Any advice is much appreciated.

My chocks have an eye bolt (guess that is the term). Can stick a large screw driver through the eye and un screw. Four bolts on each chock then they are off. Same on my previous boat.

When purchasing, I thought that would be really important. In all the years, have never removed the chocks.

I would recommend Sealift’s pop up chocks. They work great, and I think they’d fix your issue if you have the room under the platform to install them.

UMT In Fort Lauderdale FL makes them

Anyone know where we can get spare bolts for these chocks? I have a feeling I'll end up dropping at least one, if not more, in the water. Thanks!

So here is what I did and it works great. I filled in the end hole of one chock and then added the thumb type screw to it. Obviously you have to weld in a piece of aluminum and tap the hole with the correct threads and treat is so you do not get corrosion from the stainless vs. aluminum. I then added a spacer which I didn't get a pic of to the track. Its stops the chocks from going to far in so they line up where I like them. When I get where I am going I remove the dinghy and when I bring platform back up simply turn the screw and slide the chocks out. Takes seconds and work great. I clean and spray them a few times a season so they slide nicely. When I first took them off I used a metal scotchbright and cleaned them till they were smooth as glass so they would slide easy. To date no issues and its been 4 years. Hope this helps.

GHS (General Hydraulic Solutions) sells the Lift, Chocks, Bolts, Pads etc.

I'm currently building a proto type for a quick release Chock. I think you guys will like it. I decided to combine the two Port Chocks on one rail and the two Starboard Chocks on another rail. Each rail will simply drop into the slot and a T-handle will rotate a T at the bottom of a Spring loaded post to lock it into the existing slot on the platform. It will utilize the existing upper Chock parts we now have. I like nothing better than to drop the platform in the water a foot or so to add ease of access to and from the water. Chocks below the water line out of site are always a hazard. The fact is the only reason you need the chock there is if you are putting a Rib or Ski on the platform. The moment the Rib or Ski is off the platform, the chocks will be off and out of the way and won't be put back on until the moment prior to the Rib or Ski is brought back aboard. Will send pics hopefully this week. An open trip-free flat platform is like adding a room.

Can't wait to see.

I just saw this thread for the first time. Bat signal!! LOL.

Honestly, Dean, Joe, I think you guys already have my contact information, and if not, just send me a PM and I'll get it to you. That also applies to other CSR members who may need some custom work done, ofc.

I may be interested. How much are you thinking?

There would be 2 options. Option 1 would be brand new everything complete for $850-$900. Option 2 would be reuse the 4 top parts from your existing chocks and I’m thinkin $350-$400. Does that work?

Does anyone know where I can purchase a set of chocks for my 2009 500 Sundancer? Boat did not come with them. Looked at other brands in the marketplace but would like for it to be original equipment if possible. Thanks!
