About to start my first season in Manahawkin (Barnegat Bay) and would like to know of good places to cruise to such as coves and good party spots to hang with other boaters. Good places to swim/dive etc.

Thanks in advance

JD

closest to is Tice's shoal, you can't miss it any summer weekend it's a boat parking lot. just north of the seaside bridge is silver bay ( bouy 32) can be crowded but usually smoother water, call ahead on the radio for a jelly fish report. Then for a real adventure "F" cove just north of Manoloking Bridge. IT'S A PARTY!!

Awesome, thanks for the hook up

That would ICW marker 22.

Don't anchor all the way in the cove. Many jetski's like to use that cove for romping around.

For other places, check out:

Treasure Island - North of the Pt. Pleasant Canal

The Wharfside, live entertainment every day in the summer, crappy food, good drink specials though - Right by the Manasquan Inlet

All the way down Toms River, at the end, is another transient slip restaurant, I think it's also called the Wharfside too.

We like to go to a Restaurant at the end of the Metedeconk River, also can't remember the name but it's right before the sticks at the end of the River on the right hand side Marina. Good food here too and also has transient parking.

F-Cove is a great PARTY place but if you have a family, I might go early and leave early. Can get raunchy but definitely a lot of fun. Rumor has it that this year it may be closed, although that rumor circulates every year.

Wow, this is perfect and thanks so much for this info.
My first year out and I wanna make sure we check out some great hang outs.
Also would love to know of some great crab houses and seafood restaurants

Cheers

The Restuarant at the end of the Metedeconk is the Pilot House. Very tricky getting in, but plenty of water if you STAY in the channel.

There are two other's just along the North bank...names escape me...one use to be Annes and the other is slightly east.

Closer to your new home port, right on the bay, is Bay View Terrace restaurant at Key Harbor Marina. Great views, and easy in-out.

A little north, up the Forked River are two decent dockside dinning destinations. The Captains Inn and the South Winds restaruarnt.

Ron is our official Barnegat Bay cruise director. If you kiss up to him, he may put you on the super secret email list for Barnegat Raft ups.......If you don't...he'll get out the dreaded 'drill'...the one with that High Windey Pitchy sound that makes you cringe....

Ha Ha! Key Harbor Marina IS my home port. I have just booked my dock there for the summer (D Dock)
Already eaten at Bay View Terrace

All right JD! Welcome to the wonderful world of American Boating and $3.00 gasoline. If Dom says you're on the list, consider yourself on the list.

Here's pretty much the entire gang from last summer.

Now that's what I'm talking about. Thanks guys and if you don't mind a newbie Brit joining the gang I would be happy to tag along. Does my 30 foot Sundancer qualify?

Where abouts on the bay was this picture taken?

John

Woa..Woa..Hold on there.....that sir, is the Barnegat Bay's 'Secret Spot'.....it's gonna take a little bit more than a few CSR posts to find your way to that one......Ron or Frank H will run you through the initiation process.....But I'll warn you, there might be some embarassing moments involved.......

Hey, you know us Europeans are a little more open than you guys over this side of the pond. Remember our beaches are all topless or worse!! LOL!
So it may take a lot to embarrass me, so bring it on?

Hey JD,

Welcome to the club, glad to have you on board. My local friends gave you pretty good list to start your season. Since you're in Key Harbor Marina Tices would be your most visiting spot for a while. We go there often as well. Forked River is also fun to spice things up.

Cheers,
Alex.

Thanks Alex. Yes it would be great to start my first season knowing some good folks and some good spots to hang out.
Look forward to meeting you and the gang

This weather today at the Jersey Shore is just too much to handle anymore - I drove down to the marina just to look at her this morning..

Alright, would love to join in on your group - we also love some of the 'secret' spots around Barnegat Bay and would love to raft up sometime this summer...

Whats the membership join-in requirements>

Be safe!

Sorry Ron:
There's already a RON and there's already a 370DA in the group so we can't accept you.

Just kidding. Look for updates on stuff as the season approaches. Right now the summer seems 1000 years away.

Got that right. I'm so done with this winter that I might be the first to drop my boat in the water in March! LOL!!!

I think one thing most of the suggestions are missing, is the fact that you are in the southern Barnegat... Most of us are in the North... You will want to go to LBI, Tuckers Island and other places nearer to you... Forked River and Tices Shoal will probably be your northern stomping grounds... I would also recommend looking at Tuckerton, and High Bar Harbor too... Deep anchoring spots in the south are hard to find...
