You guys are still going forward with that silly trip? I thought we were all going camping? I hear Dolly Parton may be there.

Dolly has some great assets, and they would look really good on my boat, but, Liberty Landing it is. I'll have to see if I can bring my own assets. You leaving the boat key where we can find it or do we need to get Todd to have a lock picking webinar?

....... I would still think that BB/GSB sea strainers would prevent this from happening. ...... My 420 has them installed and I just never have to clean a single seaweed from the strainers.........

Be VERY CAREFULL if you plan to install the BB strainers on a boat with a cored hull.....don't just go drilling holes and bolting them under the boat.....And, if they were installed by a previous owner, pay close attention to that area during survey.

Good points, Dom. Proper installation is the key. If I recall, even cored hulls have areas of solid glass where SR installs vital components like seacocks, scoopstrainers, transducers, etc. I'm not sure if the area around the scoopstrainers (on the cored hulls) is large enough to have solid glass for the mashed shell, but it's possible that it'll be covered. I would think that this is not an issue for 480DB.

I think you had the strainers on your older 330DA. How was the installation, any issues or concerns?

Since my 420 came with them installed, there's not much I can or should do other than monitor. Survey came back just fine.

I installed them myself on my 330DA. It was a solid glass hull. I also had them on my 380DA which was a solid glass hull. I don not have them on my 410DA.

I would think that it could very well be an issue installing these strainers on the 480DA as it has a cored hull. It is imperative that there is sufficient area of solid glass for the strainer to fit. Not a job for a novice owner or inexperienced boatyard.

The raw water inlets on the 48. If they are like mine are quite large.... not sure if they make the strainer large enough to fit over the inlet
