The replacement impellers are made by Sherwood and are the 18000K. Inside the kit is a back out bolt which only backs out the impeller a few inches. After that I couldn't get it to budge. Any ideas? It comes with a lock nut but I couldn't get it to lock. I started working on the port engine first since it is more accessible. What about getting the new one in? Any hints? Will the fins correct themselves in direction once the engine is turned over in the Spring? I noticed that some of the fins are in one direction and some are in the other direction? Why is this such a grunt job? Any tricks to make this easier would be appreciated. Thanks Ralph

I bought a longer bolt from the hardware store. It worked just fine. When I pulled the old impellers out they also had one spot where the blades went in two different directions. When I installed the new ones I didn't have that problem. I imagine you can bump the engine with the cover off and the old impeller in place to see what direction it turns if you are not sure.

Just changed mine last weekend. Heres what I did. Remove the impeller puller and put a 7/16" socket inside the threads to act as a spacer. Put the bolt puller back on and screw it in against the socket. I put the socket in so that I could removed it with a socket extension before I pulled the impeller all the way out. It should be enough to break it free but if not , use a 7/16" deep socket for a longer spacer. Also, you don't want the cam to come out so put 2 bolts back in with a larger washer to hold it in place. I believe the impeller spins clockwise as you are looking at it. Use a large zip tie around the new impeller to sqeeze the blades in one direction.

Thank you very much. And my knuckles thank you as well. I will try that. Have a good boating season. Ralph

use power tune on the new impeller it will go in alot easier. the blades will be fine when the engine starts. make sure to add a little grease on the oring so it stays in place when u install the cover plate
