Purchased my 3rd Sea Ray today – a new 320

Congrads Marq,

This is the boat we'll be still dreaming for some time. Hope you've got nice trips planned

Alex.

I just got the call that they are delivering our 320 on the 23rd!!!

They said their delivery captain spends 6 to 8 hours on a new boat delivery - wow I am not sure why they would spend so much time. I have a few questions where a few things are.

Anything specific you would ask the delivery captain. I am quite comfortable with a twin engine express cruiser. I drive my Dad's 290 Amberjack from time to time.

I'd have him show you where to step in the engine compartment - it's pretty cramped and there are things you don't want to step on in there. In particular. be sure you know how best to get back to the aft strainers (A/C and genset), as well as the genset dipstick.

Our shower sump bilge pump switch has been known to stick in rough water, so you'll want to know where that is - even better trip the pump so you can hear the alarm and see the systems monitor message that pops up. Heck I'd ask about all the alarms while you are at it. Another good one is how to reset the shallow water alarm, and for Smartcraft, how to reset the gallons used.

Good luck! We splash on the 23rd as well.

My 260 Shower Sump used to stick - somebody on a forum said to used Raritan CP every weekend in the shower sump before you leave - that fixed the problem as soon I stopped using Raritan CP within 1 month the float would stick again.

The bilge is frightening me a bit. I just need to figure out where to place my feet. I was fairly warned on the lack of Bilge space - but getting to the generator is a bit of a challenge and the back two batteries.

If you don't have these tools already, do yourself a BIG favor and buy:

* mechanics mirror w/ extendable handle - great for checking the water level in those outboard batteries (you'll need a flashlight too).

* mechanics magnetic parts grabber w/ extenable handle - great for picking up screws / whatever

* mechanics small parts grabber - not sure the correct name for this but it has little fingers and a long flexable shaft - great for non-magnetic parts and also good for checked the bilge pump float switch.

All of these can be found in an automotive parts store, and should be around $10 each. I keep them in the cockpit locker next to the fridge (along with all my extra oil/rags/etc) as you can access this locker from the bilge with the hatch up.

Thanks CJ - I need to pick those tools up for the boat.
