Been searching on internet to purchase a protective cover for my instrument panel and helm. I've seen them on other boats in my Marina. For the life of me, I cannot find a source. Can anyone direct me. TG

I'm looking for one also (I've seen pictures of Sea Rays with them). I'd rather not have to have it custom made.

Can you give us details on the year and model of your boat? That would help to steer you in the right direction.

You could try GreatLakesBoatTop.com as a starting point though.

I could be missing something, but I don't recall a dash cover being offered on the 280.

You can totally make this yourself! Get your material-of-choice at a fabric store. Cut it to fit - make it as small or as large as you want it. Sew a hem into the edge. Screw a couple snaps into the dash, install the snaps in the cover. Done! Very easy.

I made my own also. Ordered a square yard and a half matching sunbrella (cheap), sewed large washers into the corners as weights, and put a hem around the edge. I didn't want to put any more snaps on but that would've worked also.

They do, in fact, make a dash cover for the 280. Mine was included when I took delivery and it works great. You can see the snaps for it on left side of the helm and also on the right side, in front of the Danger sticker.

Not that it really matters, but I'm curious. This was not an option that I could actually "select" when ordering boats for stock - that much I know for sure. Could it have been a dealer-installed option? Or, maybe it was included in some other optional package.

I want to say that it's standard. The only canvas option that I have is the camper canvas. Here's a pic of an '08 (not mine) with the dash cover. Maybe that started offering it in '08??

I have the same cover on my 240, it came that way from Sea Ray.

You guys are right. Standard issue. I couldn't find a part number for it until 2008.

CANVAS DASH COVER
0 1896547 CANVAS, 280DA-08 DASH CVR SGL CNTRL CADGRY

List price is $102.50 + shipping (from Sea Ray to dealer) - your local dealer should be able to get it for you.

For $100, I'd sure as heck make it myself! :smt001

I checked with Sea Ray. They indicated that it is NOT an avaailable option for the 280 Dancer. Must be a dealer add on. TG

You gave them them Dennis' info and they said it's not an option? I know that my dealer did not install it. Must be some wires crossed.

It was not an option for your model year. It is an option for the newer ones. Use the part number I listed.
