Good morning Club Sea Ray,

Looking to purchase a prop puller for my 99 340 DA. My marina told me it was $150 to pull the props and put them back on. It looks like it takes 5 minutes a prop to get them on and off. Is $150 reasonable?

It looks like a prop puller costs about $90. Like everything, there are several choices.

Anyone know which prop puller I should buy? It also looks like they are made of different material. Yes, I have inboards and only have 3 blades which I don't think makes a difference but in case anyone was going to ask...

Thanks for the help!

The link is not working, would you mind posting which puller you bought? I am not sure what the shaft size is on my '99 Sea Ray 340. Thanks.

You have 1-1/2” shafts. I don’t disagree you can buy a puller and pull your own props, but it does sometimes take a lot more then 5 min. Don’t think you put the puller on and tighten the bolts and the prop pops off.... you need at least a 5# sledge hammer to “shock” the puller, this can take 1,2,3, or 25 blows to get the prop off. Sometimes we even have to use heat (torch) on the hub area to help in freeing it up. I have been pulling my own props for 25 years, large and small, they do not all come off easy, what i would recommend if possible spay them with PB Blaster penetrating oil 24hrs in advance of pulling.

Agree with Larry. Takes time and patience. MAPP gas helps, PB blaster and a small sledge.

I cant seem to find that seller anywhere on ebay. Shame. BUT this one is very similar in design though not as shiny/pretty. I'm sure it will work just as well...

I've got this brand prop puller and a 2' wrench. It probably takes me at least 5 minutes just to get the puller properly on my 4 blade props. So far I've not had to use heat or anything else to help but I'm starting to put some ooomphf on that 2' wrench by the time they pop. I'm in fresh water, is corrosion a problem for you salt water guys?

I borrowed this type from the local SR dealer to pull mine. I have larger wheels and shafts, but I think this did a great job. I’m going to purchase one after the first of the year getting ready to pull and do some bottom work include some prop work.
