Prop size question

I am currently running a 14.25 x 19 prop on my boat. I have been wanting to go to a 21 pitch, and found a great deal that was to good to pass up.

My question is, will have any issues with a 14 3/8 x 21 size prop?? The diameter is a little bigger, but I think it should work fine??? Its an Alpha one drive.

Let me start by saying I'm no prop expert, but the diameter difference between your existing props and your new one's seems negligible, and should not present a problem. The question is probably what the performance difference will be between the 19 and the 21 pitch. I would strongly suggest you contact your local SR dealer. They will be more than happy to tell you what came on the boat as original equipment and also tell you whether the new props you got are acceptable.

The boat came factory with a 21 Pitch prop I believe. I am not concerned with the pitch, I was more asking about the diameter difference.

Again, the difference appears negligible, but I would call to SR to be sure. You could put your mind completely at ease with one phone call. I know when I was selecting different props for my 330 (Alpha I Gen II drives) the SR dealer I spoke with made the diameter difference between my original props and the one's I wanted (1/2 inch difference I think) seem like no big deal as long as they rotated "unobstructed on the shaft".... well I thought "no kidding" which is why I say the difference your talking about between 14 1/4 and 14 3/8 is pretty small. I'm just leery about giving advice on something I'm not 100% sure of, but you didn't seem to be getting many replies to what seemed to be a fairly simple question.

There won't be a problem with the diameter. It's only 1/8" difference which means 1/16" longer blade. 2" pitch increase could be a different story. Make sure you're close to the rated wot rpm with a medium load and you'll be fine.
