I've used General Propeller in Bradenton several times (941.748.1527). They check pitch and balance for free. You only get billed for any "real" work, and I think they still offer pick up and delivery...

I just had Coastal Prop Technology in the Ft. Myers area recondition a pair of 28x33s. http://www.coastalprop.com/
They do nice work. The shop owner graciously met us on a Sunday morning and gave us a tour of his shop. quite a set-up of mills, lathes, hydraulic presses, etc. He was in the middle of re-conditioning a set of struts, shafts, and wheels for a large Ferretti that had run aground and done some big time damage. The struts were almost as tall as I am. anyway, he explained his process and demonstrated his software for us which was interesting.
They do an inital scan of the prop to get data on several segments of each blade. Kind of like a sampling rate, the more samples, the more accuracy. A comparison is made to the prop specs to determine the areas where the blades need worked. The blades are then worked and scanned repeatedly until it meets a certain tolerance level that is IAW an ISO standard--Class S being the highest tolerance (+/- .5%) wrt the average of each blades pitch. A Class 1 Spec is .75%...Class 3 is 3%.
He guarantees Class 1 but most end up Class S. To recondition my props, which included dynamic balancing, was $503 each. He also has special rates on shipping.

Second this opinion......did nice work for me on a prop that was heavily damaged. Nice print out of the final balancing work provided.
