Need to investigate the purchase of two replacement props for my 330 Sundancer (VDrives) before launching in the Spring. Any recommendations on shops/vendors that you have had good experiences with? :smt100

Thanks!

In Chicago Propulsion Engineering/ Jerry Graveson has an excellent reputation. They are the local PropScan shop as well. However, you probably would be better off locally.
Please share with us your results if you do make a change. Good luck, JS

Our Tiara came with nibral props from Michigan Wheel in Grand Rapids. I bought a set of spares since it takes 5 weeks to have a new set made. We've been very pleased with them.

Michigan Wheel has a very strong following down here. I have the '97 model with twin carb'ed 7.4L v-drives w/ stock 17x17 3BC bronze props. I was interested in better cruising performance (not top end speed). I did the "Prop-it-Right" analysis at Michigan Wheels website ( http://www.miwheel.com/MIWheel/propit/main.htm ), the next day I got an email with a recommendation as follows:

Diameter and Pitch: 17 x 16
Number of blades: Four
Material: Nibral
Cup: Medium
Style: DQX
* Suggested retail price: Approx. $878.00 each

I'll be interested in what you decide.

DD:

I had a '98 330DA with 7.4 MPI V-Ds. I had swapped out the 3 bladers for 4 bladers. I had a thread on the old SRO, so I don't remember exactly the specs...I will go from memory, but that's dangerous....

The 4 bladers were hytorq nibral and were reconditioned to 17 X 15.25 with a slight cup...with the 4 Bladers I was able to get right to the top of the recommended RPM (maybe even a hair over). I was told it is usually better to be underpropped than overpropped. Anyway, and again from memory, I noticed an improvement around the dock, better fuel econcomy (about 5 -10%) and a smoother ride. Performance wise, I really didn't notice any measureable difference other than the the boat was much smoother which could have been attributed to the prop scan....

I sold the spare 3 bladers to another member on this board....how are they Larry?

Oh...and welcome to the board....

Thanks, Dominic!

Yours sounds very close to the recommendation I got. Before I buy I will repeat the analysis after I get some better numbers. You got the kind of improvement I want.
