How often is everyone sending in their props for inspection and Scanning?

This is my first true inboard. The boat is 1999 and for all I know the props are original. Everything runs fine with no vibration.

Thoughts?

4400 - 4600. She jumps out of the hole and runs great. Pitch is fine

If you are reaching wot when fully loaded (full fuel, water and usual crew) and have no vibrations at all, I would think you should be fine. Not sure about your MPH but maybe some more experienced members or other 370 AJ/EC owners will chime in, but that also sounds good to me.

I'm just curious if prop scanning is something you should do periodically...

"Don't try to fix what ain't broke"...............

PropScan is just a very accurate tool for measuring the pitch each blade of the prop. It and of itself doesn't add anything to a boat that is already performing to spec. If you have approx $750 (depending upon diameter, no of blades, and damage to be repaired) to spare, then you could have the props scanned to establish a base line for repairing future damage, should that occur, but don't expect any gains in performance, speed or economy.

Perfect!
Thanks.

It’s also worth noting that the “science” ends with what the measurements are. The determination of what they should be is art.

I’ve known people who’ve had their props scanned and “tuned” only to have to repeat the process to restore acceptable performance.

I had my props scanned based purely upon the hype from Prop Scan. Boat was running fine, no vibrations good top speed, etc. Got the scan results and tuned the props. Picked up 2 MPH. (39 to 41 top end). I've never been too concerned about mileage although this boat is very efficient for what it is. Always performs at the top end of what Tiara reports. Based upon the results, I had my spares scanned and tuned. The only follow up was when I purchased a new prop after hitting a fishing net. Installed both spares when that happened, and then scanned and tuned the new one which is now my other spare. The company (really the franchise owner) delivered for me as advertised. I suppose some shops are better or worse than others depending on their skill levels.
