I have a 2006 sundancer 320 with 350's v drive. It takes a while to get on plane with a few people on the boat. I would like to overcome that. I have found the procharger kits for 6000 each. They add 180hp. I have a few questions. 1 will the transmissions hold up. 2 how much stress will this add to my haul. 3 has anyone done this succesfully 4. Any thoughts or better routs?

Is this a new issue with the boat?

Are you using to trim tabs properly?

Does the boat still reach the rated WOT rpm?

I’ve only had the boat for a couple of months. Yes I use the trim tabs but when I have eight or nine people it takes a very long time. Yes it still gets up to 4500 RPMs

Redistributing any weight toward the bow can help.

Verifying that the tabs move all the way down and the bottom is clean would be a good idea.

Before any modifications are made, I’d be sure that everything else is up to snuff.
Check and resolve any Coolfuel3 issues, engine tuneup, compression and leak down tests etc.

If all of that is good and you still only get 4500 rpm, you might want to consult a prop shop. You could be under propped which will have an effect on “time to plane”.

someone put prochargers on a 320 with b3 and 8.1s......was a 55mph boat......not sure there would be room for them on a vdrive 320.....and not sure i'd put 12k into it.....but hey, if you can fit them and deal with the ecm reprograming - why not? have you thought about roots blowers instead? how about a repower with na 383 strokers? in the end probably way cheaper to sell the 320 as is and buy a 340 with 8.1s

Before I'd spend that kind of money, I'd invest a few hundred bucks on a larger set of trim planes. Also be sure the bottom isn't dirty, even slime can slow you down.
