My oldest has proposed a trip to the Princess-Louisa-Inlet this summer. We've ventured as far north as the Indian Arm and we're thinking about embarking north from Blaine this time to minimize (ha!) our fuel costs. Does anyone have any experience traveling to the Princess-Louisa-Inlet? From what I've read, it really looks amazing.

Thanks,

Dave

It is an amazing trip. Your last opportunity for fuel will be in Egmont. Fill up there. Princess Louisa is a deceptively long trip with no facilities (except for ice cream at Malibu rapids, at the Young Life resort) up that way.
The other thing to keep an eye on is the forecast for wind. One leg of the inlet can be as flat and calm as can be and then turn the point and you can have strong winds face or follow you. It's worth the run up, but keep in mind, anchorage at Chatterbox falls is more likely to be where you'll land over having space on the dock. If you do try for dock space plan on trying to get there by mid morning (or earlier if you can) to fill spots of those leaving.

It's been quite a few years but it's well worth the trip, spectacular to say the least. Very long inlet but chatterbox falls is a must. Seems, if my memory serves, that at Malibu there is a 9 hole golf course carved into the cliffs, fantastic views from there. I'm envious!

X2 on everything Todd said. It really is one of the places you have to go to if you boat on the west coast.

Thanx for posting all the pics Guys. Now we're REALLY home sick, and we just got BACK from there!!!!!! :smt089

I'm heading there Monday morning - stopping in Nanaimo for fuel and provisions and then planning to be at Malibu Falls by slack at 4:30PM. Hoping to find dock space since it's a Monday but prepared for a stern tie if necessary. It will be my first time there.

For all you guys that have to follow channels and worry about water depth take a look at the depth reading in Pack66Dad's last photo.
