Do you guys put anything on the lug nuts to prevent corrosion? When I took off the wheels so I could repack the bearings and take the drums in to get machined, there where a couple of lug nuts that where harder to remove due to corrosion. The trailer so far has only been in fresh water put I plan on dunking it into salt water this summer.

The way I see it I have 4 options.
1) nothing on the lug nuts
2) use anti seize. There was some discussion here about it being not so good in salt water.
3) Use some grease on them
4) Use perfect seal.

Any practical experience to keep the corrosion away?

I boat in salt. After throughly washing down with fresh water I spray them with 6-56. Tends to keep all of the corrrosion off the wheels. That and periodically breaking them loose for normal maintenance does the trick.

McGard lug nuts are excellent.

Aside from that, I've been experimenting with Boeshield T-9 for similar things. It leaves a coating that doesn't wear off nearly as quick as things like 6-56 or WD40.

I use anti-seize along with a periodic spray of PB Blaster. Never had one stick on.

I use anti-seize and I boat in saltwater, just pulled the wheels for new tires, first time off in 2 years, no road trip last year just 60 feet back and forward, had no problem getting them off.

Use a good anti-seize - the high temp variants seem to be of better quality overall with less risk of gumming up parts. I've never had a problem with it. I add the PB Blaster just to keep the rust down on the threads and the lugs themselves. I use the Napa / Permatex version shown here:

Thanks for the feedback guys. I do have some of the same anti-seize as you use Travis. I use it on the lugnuts and rims of the tires on my truck with good results. I'll give it a try on the boat trailer and see how it does. I'll also pick up some of the Boeshield T-9 for other applications.
