What do you guys do to clean up or prevent the waxing/polishing from sticking to the bottom paint at the water line?

It's been my biggest battle to clean this up because it just looks like a$$ after I'm done polishing/compounding/waxing etc. I get good results with shine but then there is this crappy waterline bottom paint that has white stuff on it.

Sorry for the rant...but any ideas???

thanks!!!

I also tape the bottom paint plus I use a 12 inch paper trim strip below that to prevent marks from polish "slinging" on to the bottom paint from the buffer pad.

Hey, thanks, simple enough. Hopefully the bottom paint doesn't come off with the tape... I used Blue Painters tape from 3M.

Damp rag and wipe as you go or tape it off. If just waxing I leave an inch or two above the paint line and rub this small section by hand.
