Presidential Candidates

I just throw up a little bit in my mouth whenever I think about these candidates.

First thread I have read from the first post to the last because this issue will define this country for many years. I have to say that, initially, I was not a big Trump fan, but the more both sides of the Washington insiders hate him, the more I warm up to him! If the Republicans don't want him in after so many in the US voted for him, it tells you something. They are scared to death of losing their little Kingdom. The Republicans have had the House and Senate now for years and have done absolutely nothing! If we get either Bernie the Socialist or Hillary the most corrupt person that has ever been in politics in there, we might as well all sell the boats we love because we will be taxed to the point of not affording them and the fuel that goes in them will be so expensive due to taxes on fossil fuels! Guess the sailboaters will have the final laugh! God Bless America! (Thought I would get that in there while we are still allowed to say it!)

So the GOP is not ready to align them selfs with Trump because they are waiting for Trump to come around to their way of thinking. But in the past their way of thinking included Mccain Palin and Romney .The GOP once again was willing to throw another election with the likes of Cruz,Kasich,Carson. So where did Trump fit in to this losing plain that is better obvious The GOP never dream he would gain traction.Lets face it the GOP would much rather point fingers at those who are in charge then be the ones make those decisions. I'm 55 years old and Reagan was the last President I voted for that wasn't just so the other guy would win

I'm fed up with paying for the "Free for all" and I think Hillery will be increasing what the working class pays to those that don't work. Including those that cross our boarders for free health care and all the other freebies out there. The working class can no longer bear the weight of the top 3% and the lower 47%. Only months ago she claimed to be broke on national TV, anybody with a brain knew better. Private Email, Bengazie and her lack of action to protect those killed, 2nd Amendment ( she won't take or even find my firearms). The only good thing might be that the taxpayers won't have to pay for protection for he husband anymore

both scare the hell out of me but I do think Trump is the lesser of the two evils.

Please explain to me how the top 3% is a weight on the working class. Taxpayers earning $250,000 or more (2.7% of filers) pay 50% of all personal income taxes. How is that a weight on the working class?

JimT. What about all the other expenses. Fuel, food, clothing....... And the BIG Kahuna, healthcare. They are not taxes, but are money out of pocket nonetheless.

As as for the top 3%..... They don't matter either. It's more like the the top 1% of the top 1%. Our government is bought and paid for by the likes of ADM, Goldman-Sachs, Buffet, Soros..... We don't matter to them. We're pawns in their chess game. The golden rule applies.

I hate to say this but it doesn't seem to matter how the voter feels. How many of us could even afford to attend one of the dinners? Do you really think they give a damn how the general public feels or the things that effect us? Any of them would SELL you water as you sat in the middle of the fresh mountain stream.

Hillery and her husband bought a house in Mass a couple of years back 2.5 million, they rented the garage out back to the Secret Service for his protection. Wanna guess how much it cost the taxpayers per year? That comes from the a Mass State Trooper.

Now correct me if im wrong. It seems to me as if the Republican Party represents the top 3%, the Dems the 47%. So who represents the working class?

Im off my soap box now

Some folks have this opinion, 'Anyone who is wealthier than me is a sociopath who lies, cheats and steals to get their ill-gotten gains. Anyone poorer than me is a lazy oaf who suckles at the teat of our bloated welfare state'.

I'm wonderin' what the 'Mass State Trooper' would have to say about this.

Woody, look at the decline in the quality of public education in the last 51 years; look particularly at the last 38. An educated populous scares the living sh!t out of the electorate.

I really don't understand what you are trying to say. I was simply asking the fella that posted to backup his statement. There are many good people on this forum who are in the top 3% or even the top 1% of income filers. You can tell by the size of their boats. I would venture that most of these guys are entrepreneurs who earned the ability to run a big Sea Ray. I want a 65' Fly. I am working my ass off to get one. Might not happen but I'm trying and I am not complaining that the man is keeping me down.

Every time the wealthiest are blamed, the middle class pay. Income tax? Just for the rich, now hurts the poor the most. Even though the wealthy pay, they can find ways to mitigate the tax burden. The poor and middle class, pay pay pay. Not that the wealthy don't pay more, they just have more left over.

The poor and middle class, pay pay pay.

While I will agree with the middle class getting effed in the b when it comes to taxes, I really don't think the poor pay, pay, pay. I think every family has that idiot that is addicted to Percocet, works little to none, bitches about their family not helping them, receives all sorts of government assistance, and then gets a tax refund. This boils my blood when I look at my check and there are $3k in deductions each week.

Another almost indecipherable statement.

If we were to use income only to describe the middle class what amount would you use for each end of the group?

The poor don't pay, they get a handout. I would argue that the bottom half of what we call "middle class" don't pay, at least as far as federal income tax. All you need is a minimum wage job (or in some places no job) and a couple kids, and you can have as much "income" as someone making $100k/ year. google welfare cliff and look at some of the graphs.

What other measurement would I consider? I think that anyone who supports their family and also has a significant amount taken away to support those who don't support their family is a solid candidate for the middle class. As far as the top end goes-not quite sure and don't really care. I think as soon as you start buying tropical islands for your birthday you have moved out of the middle class.

Most people I know who make 250K-1M worked hard to get there, and no silver spoons. This tax group does not get to keep a paycheck until July, and they make up a large portion of the tax base, even though they represent a small % of society. From Jan-June they work for Uncle Sam. They are one of the main reasons we have buoys on the water, a harbor patrol...
