1989 340 with the same non skid issue that almost everyone else describes - chalk mess that looks lousy. Wondering what the best prep would be? Would you compound this?

I did compound mine. Took a while with the wool and not super aggressive compound but it looked great afterwards. I ended up waxing afterwards.

Would you go with a heavier compound (BTW what did you use?) or use the same process again if you had to do it again?

I used a medium bristle carpet brush on a cordless drill with non skid cleaner to clean mine up. Takes a while to do it a small section at a time, but it comes up real nice.
I used the Woody Wax on my old boat and liked it but it was slippery.
Curious to see what others think of Sure Step, especially any comparisons to Woody Wax.

I used the presta not super cut but with the heavier pad. I think I would have used heavier cut compound next time. Mine was bad pourous chalky looking

    Interesting... Might do some experimentation.
Right now, I have a Porter Cable 7424 DA with brush heads along with Presta Super Cut and Sure Step.
I did the Sure Step on the swim platform last year but did not compound it. The results were ok.
The Woody Wax is on order...

I’m going with sure step this year. My non skid is neglected and chalky, I’ll post before and after pics. I bought the sure step kit with the cleaner and drill based polishing pad.
