We got quite the surprise when taking the dink off the storage rack this past Saturday. I would say it’s about to deliver twins any minute now.
Anybody else ever have this to deal with? I know it was not over inflated. :smt017

Sorry, but he problem is in the 7 letter brand name on the side of the boat.

If you are anywhere near being in warranty, complain like heck to your dealer. If you bought it from a brick and mortar store you may get a replacement deck, but if you bought it on the net or mail order, good luck.

The dink was purchased from a flesh and blood person at the Baltimore boat show this past winter. They have a real store in New York and claim to be a “Platinum†Mercury dealer – whatever that means. I agreed to have a new deck shipped to me immediately at the outrageous cost of $400 while the warranty claim is being sent to Mercury through the dealer. The reasoning here is that we use the dinghy every weekend and would rather not wait until they decide what to do. With some persistence, I should be able to recover the cost.

My dock neighbor and I bought the same unit last year.
They were leftover 2005's model 240 airdeck. Both of us have had good luck. I have a cover for mine when it is mounted to my weaver davits which should help with the uv.

FWIW - I have had one re-occurring problem. The drain plug assembly has cracked twice. Since I bought this from my local Merc dealer, they actually changed it in my car while I waited the first time. The second time I brought them the plug assembly already removed and they replaced it immediately recording my HIN each time. The second plug is fine. I was on it all day today!

Did you get results from Merc inflatables on this? I have one and am curious how it was handled.
Thanks.

I bought my Mercury PVC 270 Airdeck as a 2005 leftover at the Atlantic City Boat show in January 2006 from a brick and mortar guy from LI, NY. Name begins with a "B", and probably the same folks that Jrirvine bought his from.

Anyway, last season, right from day one, the tubes would lose air. Enough air, to where I would have to pump it up every weekend. I called the "B" store and agreed to keep the dink for the rest of the '06 Summer and bring it in for warranty repair over the winter. I brought the dink in, in person, around October of '06. They tried a few "repairs" but I wasn't happy and insisted on a factory replacement. I did have to make a "bunch" of phone calls, and I had to keep reminding them around April of '07 that I was getting anxious. In the end, I did get a factory replacement, and the new dink has been trouble free the entire '07 season. Haven't had to air once.

What they did was, remove the serial number plaquered from the transom of the old dink and rivit it on to the transom of the new dink. Also, because I had the glue on "numbers plate" they had to remove that so I could re-glue it to the new dink. All this to avoid having to repay taxes and re-register under a new serial number.

The folks at the "B" store are nice enough folks and fairly easy to deal with. However, you have to stay on top of them and they will do what they can to help....at least that was my experience.

I ALWAYS keep it covered when not in use.
