Post Your Top Speed

195 sport 2006 5.0L Mpi V8 on glassy day and probably wind behind me i hit 59 MPH GPS.

Other days without effort i am always hitting 56 MPH GPS.

I also notice my speedo is only 3-4 MPH off my GPS which is nice to know so I dont always need my GPS out. I do think I will get a GPS speedo installed though

I had to let the horses run on this stunning day...I hit 67 mph with my 502 Mag and its 415hp and it felt like she had a little more left in her. Wow! She sounded great and floated across the lake. What a feeling.

These were the conditions today....

Old thread, but we topped out a 38.7 mph on GPS, full fuel, water and 4 people on board. Don't want to know the fuel burn. Cruise speed 28-29 mph at 1800-1850 rpm, much less fuel.

The day I bought my 38 (back in April) clean bottom, small amount of coral on the props - 29 knot average (GPS) in both directions offshore (Indian Ocean) with small chop. Half tank of fuel and water, 2 people on board. Running around 4650 rpm. I was using some tab and may have gone a smidge faster without any tab

Taking advantage of yesterdays coastal glassy conditions I decided to go for a fang and reached a new top speed (31.5 knots/36.25 mph) - engine(s) were bouncing off the limiter during parts of the run.

Hadn't driven the boat for about 6 weeks so bottom might have been a little hairy
No tabs
1/3 fuel
1/2 blackwater tank
Full freshwater tank
Inflatable on bow, outboard on board etc
Fridges full
Just me on board
Approx 10 metres of water

51 MPH on GPS 1994 Signature 240 with new 7.4 and BravoIII. 70 Gal of fuel, myself and 10 Gal of Water. 26P Stainless Props.

Hook that dead man's switch to your wrist, wear a helmet, and wear a vest to keep your unconscious head face up and above the water.

36.2 mph in a 2006 270 AJ. 350 MAG MPI. 6/7/2018.

I don't recall the load conditions. Water was calm. Probably 3/4 fuel, 1/2 water. Just me on the boat, had canvas up. Had just finished getting a bottom job done and it was smooooth. Faster than the day I took delivery from the dealer.

45 mph on the speedo at 4900 rpm in a first outing for us in a 2003 21' Bowrider Select with 5.0 MPI turning a 19" High Five SS prop. Think a 21" three blade and trimming (I forgot) would have taken us over 50 mph. A lot of fun weighing nearly 4000 #s, being stable through the chop and wakes, with the unmuffled exhausts exposed. This engine quits running at 5100 rpm so I must have been at or past the top of the power curve even with the drag of the 2 extra blades of the ski prop. Definitely more mph there but this is fun enough. And not as scary as my Hydrostream air entrapment hull that was accelerating and beginning to fly (sporadically) at this speed, certainly at 60.

Leaving the bimini top up also slowed me down.

Went in last Friday. 55 degrees out and calm. Went for a short ride and decided to firewall the Crusaders. 4100 rpm and 34.2 mph!! Always runs fast at the start of the season.

Your W.O.T. is only 4100 rpms?

The old Crusader and Mercruiser big blocks were spec'd at 4200-4400. Anything over 4000 is considered by most to be acceptable. I know some boats are only getting 3600-3800. I would be concerned at those #s.

Last Summer on Superior, my Father-in-Law and I went out for a ride, running it wide open. He asked me how fast we were going. I pointed to my Garmin NEMA display and told him about 16 gal per hour.
