I'm interested in hearing what kind of top speeds people are getting at WOT with their classics. Obviously I know there will be a big range since an SRV 195 and 30 ft boat are going to have very different results, but I'm still curious.

Post up your classic's top speed!

best guess on a bouncing speedo, inop trim tabs, and a single 350...about 28ish on a 3 ton boat

:smt001 The practical cruiser:1985 270DA with twin mercruiser 185 v6's and 19" pitch "high five" stainless props - 36 m.p.h. gps'd at 4,800 rpm's w/ half tank of gas and loaded for the day.

 The adrenaline rush:Our previous 1988 22 Pachanga, original stock 454 cid/330 hp w/ Bravo1 and 23" pitch "mirage" stainless prop - 72 m.p.h. gps'd w/ 2 people in perfect 2 foot waves and a quarter tank of fuel. After rebuilding engine, changing heads and intake from "peanut" port to "oval port" and boring to a 496 - 79 m.p.h. in the same water and load conditions. Needed a slight bit of tabs to keep it from "chine walking". Miss it at times - now tearing up the water somewhere in northern Minnesota.

niks325i - What's yours? You did not post it along with your question.

Pachanga's best so far is 62 gps on the warmed over 350 running a 21p.
I've never tested the 270.....figure it's not worth the gas:)

I hear you - took quite awhile to get the 270 up to speed and could hear the "four barrels" pouring the fuel in. A one time deal to satisfy my curiosity. Yours should be pretty close, probably a bit better with the 4.3's versus my 3.8's. Does it really matter though? Enjoy the ride.

is that Gallons Per Second ??

1987 268 DA, 454MAG, 3 blade stainless, full gas, full water, 2 adults, 2 kids, 1 dog and loaded for weekend - 43 MPH on speedo, GPS and phone. I have no idea what the boat weighs and the tach doesn't work.

4300 RPMs at 43 MPH

haha, ya the one time I opened it up to full throttle it felt like I was trying to push a boulder up hill and said the heck with it. never thought of running high fives...does it help you pop on plane quicker? I bought the 22 with a 23p high 5 on it, the boat felt like a jet ski popping out of the water, the hole shot was crazy!

lol. Well, I bought mine in January and it has been a trailer queen since then. Part of the reason I'm curious about everyone else's is I'm wondering what to expect from mine. 45 mph? 50?

I don't think there is a downhill on water.....normally

Does not "jump up" like the Pachanga (or Grandma for that matter) but it does steadily plane the same no matter how heavily loaded down she is. The "high fives" came with her so I don't really have a comparison. In our case they seem to be a perfect match for fuel economy and as work horses, loaded down and/or in heavy seas.

I did not see the Winnepeg, your frozen in like we are. Probably the only reason there are so many replies from the north country too, can't be out on the water. Your probably right with your speed range.

43 mph for 230 and 40 for 310

both from gps and on lake mead

230 was with the alpha drive. slowed a bit when changed to B3. propping up from 22's to 24's this spring and should bring back to before drive swap.

Those are both good speeds for that size a boat! Wow!

86 210 mid cabin, 260 mercruiser, alpha 1, 4 blade ss prop gps verified 41mph at around 4,600

1989 300 DA, twin 5.7s, 4 bbl, stock 14x19 props, inoperative OD trim, four adults, full fuel, part water, no waste, canvas up. Done in 2008 during sea trial. 4400 rpm 39mph, 6 tons of boat. Haven't pushed it that far since.

At WOT, 30.7 MPH - full fuel, no water, 3 adults. (GPS)

1989 390 express cruiser t-454 (340hp), 29.6mph gps, 3/4 fuel, full water. This is a two way average (upstream and downstream). It's not worth the fuel to see what it will do. Previous boat was an '89 Formula f-292 sr1 with t-454 mags. 74.1 gps, and it would do that in any conditions.
