Why not say you have a bayliner? Why the subterfuge? Reminds me of the Better Results Get A Mac ad.

Sorry to hi-Jack but, Gary's photo just pushes my desire to be a Walmart Greeter when I grow up!

FC3, Turns out I was wrong. My title does not say US Marine. IT says just simply "Avanti". I've updated my profile to make you happy.

Nowhere on the boat or title does it say Bayliner. Even though we all know Bayliner used to make the Avanti line. I consider it to be a bayliner but to be as pc as I can I'm going by what it says on the title.

42 EC or Avanti - The 42 Avanti is a very nice boat, time less express design with a great lay out. The 42' that I have been on seemed to have great build quality and superior to Sea ray. Your pictures of Bedwell Harbor is all long way from your home.

They keep playing the name game so some people will think they're getting something different than a bayliner. Maxim, Avanti, Meridian, Trophy, US Marine has been playing that game for decades.

The Coast Guard doesn't list a MCI for Avanti. It lists
AVV AVANTI MARINE USA INC 25520 SW 141 AVE HOMESTEAD FL
ERQ AVANTI POWERBOATS INC 12900 NW 30TH AVENUE OPA LOCKA FL
FUF AVANTI POWERBOATS PO BOX 702 EGG HARBOR CITY NJ
IEY AVANTI BOATS LTD 135 WEST SHORE ROAD HUNTINGTON NY
RQH AVANTI 13350 NW 97 AVE HIALEAH GARDENS FL

Which one is it, the ones built in FL, NJ or NY?

Reminds me back in 1987 when I went a looked at Acuras and the sales guy swore it was not made by Honda...

I was looking at the Audi Q7 and said to the salesman, "This is an extended Volkswagen Toureg body, right?" He said "Yes, that's right, but these are the differences." Then when I'm look over the SUV, a stupid 20-something salesdroid whispers to him, "Don't say that. Tell them it's a stretched A6."

One can always tell the stupid sales people who are going to wash out of the business and give crappy post-sales support. They're the one's who lie to their prospects going into the deal.

Best regards,
Frank

Thanks for the nice comments about the build of the avanti. Yes, those pictures were taken by a friend who owns a 2008 Bayliner 340. Never the less, they are some FINE desktop worthy pictures which is why I posted them. With maybe the exception of the one with the Dish... I just hope I can make it there someday in my own boat.

FC3 forgot to list Sea Ray in his list of Brunswick boats.

Hey, guys let's all take a vow of peace here. We're all basically the same. Sea Ray, Bayliner, Maxum, Avanti, Trophy, whatever the sub brand Brunswick can't we all just get along and accept that our boats are like cousins in the same basic family?

At least i'm not coming in with a chapparel or a monterey or a hatteras or a Carver. But even then, why would it matter so much?

Actually they are not the same.

Brunswick has separate corporate entities that operate autonomously. One is the US Marine group. They control the design and build of Bayliners, Maxims, Trophys and Meridians. Sea Ray group builds Sea Rays. The Sea Ray operating group also had Boston Whaler and Baja as corporate holdings, but Baja was spun off. I think they still control Whaler. Other operating companies such as Hatteras and Cabo also operate independently.

Bayliner, Maxim and Meridian I know share construction techniques and fabrication facilities. Sea Ray does not use those short-cuts. They're exclusive to US Marine. Probably the only thing the Brunswick boat manufacturers all have in common are Mercury engines.

At one time, one could argue that a Chevrolet was a decontented Cadillac since the both shared a platform. It would be fallacious to argue that any US Marine boat is a stripped down Sea Ray since the hulls, engineering, and manufacture share nothing.

Doesn't matter to me. If we accept Tiara owners then it proves we'll accept anyone

Plus, I think the cousin analogy is accurate. Separate, yet related.
.

Standards, as they say, ain't what they use to be.

Cousins share some genetic information because they have a common ancestor. US Marine, Sea Ray, Hatteras and Cabo have no common antecedent and share no engineering. The analogy doesn't hold. They are, at best step children. You can guess which are the evil step children and which are the good ones.

I'm just having some fun...this made me think of you Frank....
