Portable BBQ ?

I like my Coleman Fold-n-Go
cooks great...cheap and portable
and never had a drip

The Solaire comes in two models. The lighter gauge steel is $350 or so on eBay, the heavier (marine 316) seems closer to $500. The Only Mate has determined that the Magma infrared has to go...tired of smelling my singed arm hairs from blow outs and relights (we will repurpose it for tailgating...with less wind, it should perform better, I hope). She has directed me to find a suitable alternative and the Solaire looks like the answer...EXCEPT...I can't find a rod holder mount. Do any of you guys with Solaires have a rod holder mount? Did you retrofit the Magma type rod holder mount?

I'm happy with my set up. As Mike pointed out I have mine on under the swimstep lid.

I'm sure a Solaire can be mounted on the Magma pedestal. It looks like a great grill, but I was unaware of it when I bought the Magma Newport. Still I'm happy with it. Maybe ignorance is bliss......

I have the same set-up, (Floriduramax) I copied, but not too impressed w/the newport grill. Might be time to get the Soliare and fabricate the mount to work on the swim platform

I have the SS version of the Solaire. The actual unit construction is "OK"... it's not like a the Firemagic grill construction I have here at the house ( http://www.firemagicgasgrills.com/ --- built for a nuclear war). It's better quality than a Magma but it's not the 1/4" plate steel stuff... The magic on the Solaire is the infrared element... it's wonderful to cook on. Here's some actual shots of mine:

Damn... now I'm hungry...

My next boat is going to have a custom made infrared grill built in... None of that mamby-pamby electric element poop they put on boats now.

We are a TEC dealer and install the new Cherokee infra red in the storage bays of luxury buses. Very good cooking grill.
