Like to find something either on a pedestal or with clamps to the bimini poles.
Anyone have a BBQ that works well on a smaller boat?

Cheers,
Steve Craig

Magma! Expensive, but they make great products with several mounting options.

For just 2 people ?? the Force10 grill.

I have the magma I use the legs on the beach. Does anyone use the rail mount on the Bimini support poles. Will they hold the grill?

I have had serious problems with the Magma Catalina infrared. Buyer beware. As the infrared screens become a little clogged, there isn't enough air to keep the flame lit. In the winds of anchor, it blows out easily, fills with propane, and then "ka-boom" if you try to relight without clearing it. I've spoken with the mfg about it, to no avail. They claim its operator error. I disagree. You decide yourself, but just a head's up.

Solaire! If you can handle the heat it rocks...

another vote for Magma...i use the rod holder mount...works great...Magma grills are not expensive at all if they are given to you as a Christmas gift like mine was  ...the only issue on a smaller boat is storage space...we keep our grill and LP tanks in a duffle bag and only bring it with us when we plan to cook a meal while on the water...since i installed a microwave oven and inverter last year we have done less grilling...sometimes we will grill the burgers or dogs ahead of time and keep them chilled on ice...then we heat them up in the microwave when its time to eat...

Love my Catalina (non infra red) Mounted on swim platform, stored in engine bay.

Bimini mounts (rail mount) by Magma work great - as long as you're using it on a bimini leg that doesn't swivel.

Steve - the smaller, 14" (15"?) Magma would work well - it's pretty easy to store. The next size up is the "party" model - 17" diameter. 2" doesn't sound like much, but it is noticeably bigger.

I've had my Magma for about 12 years, now. Still works great. If you have a few minutes - do a search for Magma grills here on CSR - you should be able to find a bunch of threads with a lot of info.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll look into all the brands mentioned, over the Winter. We bought a small camping style BBQ this year. Takes a small external mount propane tank.
Just enough room on one of the tables, with a towel under it, & no more than two people on the boat.
Definitely not safe & we used it only the one time.
There is evidence of something used on the swim platform by a previous owner. 3 screw holes in a triangular pattern suggesting perhaps a pedestal.

I had the Magma on my 240SD mounted with the little flat mount and also had an extension piece that put it out over the swim platform. Worked great. I tried the Bimini pole mount, but like Dennis said did not work because the back poles swivel. I think I've got a picture or two of how it was mounted in my picture album you should be able to see. I also used the magma legs on the beach from time to time.

Looks like we'll go with the Magma Newport & pedestal mount for the swim platform.

Thanks everyone for the help.

LOVE my Magma! We used the rod holder mount and it worked just fine on our 21'. Now that we have the 27', might look into different mount options. If you receive Boat US magazine, there is a coupon in it every month for $15 off a $100 purchase at WM. When we bought ours, they were also giving away the canvas cover!
