Port side muffler

I think mine are a special order since there are none on the site that have two smaller inlets and one larger outlet all on the sides of the unit which are set at the proper angles to receive the exhaust tubes from the engine and redirect the larger tube to the stern corners (which are about 5' back from the mufflers). Something tells me it would be a boat "buck" to get it replaced!

I was looking to redo my generator muffler and called them up for a recommendation. The were very helpful. A dual stage genny muffler was about $350.

At the bottom of their webpage is a "Custom Parts" . With that said, it could be expensive and with some down time, but probably the last muffler that boat would need. Also, they may have built the original and already have the prints. It would be worth a call.

No need for me to replace since the repair seems to be holding quite well - but thanks anyway. I did call the company before repairing and got their take on it. According to them, completing a simple fibreglass patch is perfectly fine and should last for the boat's life. The sides are stronger than the top due to the curved shape vs the flat top. They figured that years of the exhaust pulsing may have caused the flat top to crack. With the repair completed, the top is more reinforced than the original exhaust on the other side of the boat. I think it may have been a flaw during the manufacturing process that took years of vibration before finally letting go.

I like cheap and easy fixes!!

How do you figure it cracked?

I had a Veralift muffler replaced under warranty on my Tiara. The boat had 4 or 5 hours on it when I sea trialed it and we noticed the bilge pumps started to run while going out onto Lake Michigan. One exhaust hose clamp was over tightened when the boat was built and the muffler was cracked. Because of the low hours, no one noticed the damage. If you are replacing a muffler, it would be a good thing to know how much torque to apply to the fasteners before the install.
