I dont know why I haven't posted this subject before: the seacock on the port side is missing the handle. I have been using a screw driver to open and close it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Might also consider any info leading to replacement for the unit.

Is this what your seacock looks like?

If it is this type, it is a Groco SV-1250. The handle part number is SV-1256A and, since this seacock design has been out of production about 25 years, about the only source is going to be Groco.....410-604-3800.

But, I think this is just a threaded rod with a plastic handle on it so it souldn't be hard to get one made at a local machine shop. If your boat is out of the water, take the seacock apart and remove the tapered rubber plug in the center and take it with you.

I think you just hit the nail on the head! I will call them. Thanks!

OMG! Groco had the handle and it was only $7.00!! Thanks again fwebster!

I have no explanation, but almost daily I can't find my cell phone, yet I can remember some obscure fact about a boat I was on 25 years ago.

Now, I gotta go find my phone............

Don't worry buddy, i have been there!

Well, when I went to order the handle Today they called me back and say the part was no longer available, so I will take the one in place to a CNC shop and have one made.

Still, thanks a bunch fwebster!

Here is another possible approach. This site:

https://www.boltdepot.com/Carriage_bolts_Silicon_bronze_5_16-18.aspx

shows bronze bolts of various diameter, thread and length. If you can determine the thread used in the seacock stem by putting a known sized nut on the seacock handle you do have, then but a bolt and cut the head off, cut it to the correct length maybe cut the excess threadedpart off, and you have a new handle.

Sounds like a great idea!
