That sounds much more like a bad ground on the battery than it does the battery itself. Jumping it with a bad ground would have resulted in the same condition.

I would have the old battery tested.

Put in the new battery and she started right up. The old battery showed 13 volts but would not turn the starter. The new battery started her right up. Thanks for your help.
