I have a 340DA 2003 with the rocker style engine start/stop switch on the helm. the Port engine switch will not stop the engine! Any Ideas as to what to look for to correct this?
I can stop the engine by pressing the toggle to the start postion momentarily.

Do you have Smartcraft? If so did anyone change any wiring to Smartcraft? If so that may be your issue.

I just purchased the boat, it was repo'd. they said they used a black box to run it with out keys. The starboard is fine, teh Port starts and run's, won't turn off. I have swapped the connections behind the dash between the port and starboard. Not the switch, as the problem followed to the STB side........
I have double checked for loose or bad connections everywhere except behind the breaker panel.
HMMMMM....any ideas?

Usaally its the switch. cycle the starter switch on off alot without power on. These switches are "self wiping" and by cycling the switch on/off it should clean the contacts and work ,,, it did for me

Not the dash switch. Swapped port with STB and no change. tried tapping on master relay and starter sol. no workie. the only way to kill the engine is to disconnect the negative bat terminals and tap the start switch.....
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Try switching the PCM and see if it follows.

(X 2) Do you have Smartcraft?

Just a WAG. To make connections to the "black box" it would seem to me that the DC panel inside the cabin would need to be removed in order to bypass the ignition keys. On my '06, I think there are 6 screws that hold the panel in place. It might be worth the time to pull and have a look to see if there is a loose wire from the port ignition switch terminals. Caution - all the A/C stuff is below the D/C panel - disconnect shore power while doing this.

key switches are replaced and functional. they have no affect on getting the motor to stop, neither do the ignition breakers. I tried turning every thing off to get the engine to stop.
Do have smartcraft.
I need more instruction on switching the PCM...
I will try anything you suggest.
Thanks

I'd call the repo company back and ask them if you can speak with someone versed in the usage of that black box. If they can describe to you how they connect it to the boat, then at least you know what they messed with and where to look.

They probably bent a pin in a connector somehere. Pull the panel, unplug every connector that you see connecting to the igniition switches, and inspect the male side of the connector(s) to see if any of the pins are bent over or pushed in.

they skined the purple wire to the engine harness and jumped a battery to the starter.
no other wires look cut or shorted.....
