First world problem and not related to boating, but this site has some pretty insightful members so here goes.....I put a deposit on a new C8 Corvette Convertible in November 2020. AT that time, they told me it would be six months before actually specing the new car and likely 9 months before it was delivered. By the end of the six months their answer had changed to "we have no idea if or when you will see this car" The deposit remained. In the meantime, I took delivery of a new 2021 911 Cabriolet in August 2021. I love the car but don't drive it much. It's got 1600 miles on it and 300 of those were the day I brought it home from the dealer in Maryland. The Chevy dealer called me last week and told me I am next on their list and they should get an allocation within the next few weeks. I asked if I could order a ZO6, they said no, they may never see a ZO6 and even if they do the owner of the dealership wants it. I could, however, order a 70th Anniversary Edition, but I'm not sure I'm interested in that. Anyway, my deal on the C8 is at MSRP and I can not assign it to another buyer. I guess I have three options. Buy the C8 and keep the 911; buy the C8 and sell or trade the 911; or, get my deposit back and keep the 911. Having both the 911 and the C8 will require to put an $8,000 lift on one side of my garage (there's a Z/28 on the other side). So what does this esteemed group think?

Get your deposit back and find another dealer that can get allocation for a ZO6. Then sell or trade the 911 when it comes in.

I think you got hosed on the vet delivery. A friend ordered one in March and had it beginning of June

Maybe take delivery on the C8 then sell it or, if it's not a problem, get the deposit back. I'd keep the 911, a great bullet proof car.
I want a C8 Z06 also but I'd give a year of production before buying one - too many changes from the current production C8.

I personally don’t keep toys that I’m not using. Or course, I often miss a lot of my old toys, so there’s that.

Do you think you'd drive the C8 more than the 911? If you had both would you be driving the same miles, just between the 2 cars? I really like the new C8 but I think the days of flipping a standard C8 for any kind of profit are over, especially considering the tax and registration costs. C8 Z06 is a different story for sure.

In the end it's going to come down to which one lights up the most when you walk out to the garage. 911's are a lot more subtle and invisible (I've had 3) but are wonderful cars. The new C8 will get noticed everywhere you go. Definitely extroverted styling.

You can give me which ever one you don't want then you don't have to worry about that pesky lift - glad I could help! :D

Which will you enjoy more?

If you have never owned a Porsche before, keep it. You will discover it is a really refined sports car that you can drive for hours at a time without fatigue. Nothing breaks and your biggest expense will likely be tires although they are are not cheap. The insurance on my Porsche is about $95 less than on my wife’s S5 Audi which was much less expensive than the Porsche. It will change the way you see Corvettes.

I'm selling my Bendpak 4 post HD series BTW. I need a two post instead.

That Bendpak is a top-of-the-line lift.

I have a 4-post lift to store 2 toy cars. The only issue is that the top car doesn't get used nearly as much as the bottom one. Ever so often I switch them around so they both get some attention but it's not ideal. I often want to drive the car at the top for a short trip and it's just not worth the hassle.

I really don't see a problem with the cars. The issue is you wanting the newer vet now and possibly don't want the "older" one anymore. If that is the case get your money back and order the one you want, knowing it may take as long again. Having owned both Vet's and Porsche's, I would not sell the Porsche. Your close enough to Lime Rock (CT), take it up there and run that track and you will never sell it! As for your garage, your going to have that problem no matter which vet you get.

On a side note, you might want to change your chevy dealer. Curious who you used for this?

Personally, my biased opinion is to broom the Porsche and get the Corvette. But...I've never been a Porsche fan and I'm still not sure how much I like the C8. Kind of why I just bought what I did, a ZL1 convertible. The engine is what was in my C7 Z06 with the better 10 speed trans.

I have been bored lately and that is dangerous for me cause it usually means I am going to buy something shiny and new and then after a few months it will sit just like my Cobra and other projects on a battery tender. With that said I have been looking at 911's, Corvettes I like the C7 styling and a 488gtb
But I wish I could just rent one for a few months then move on so I won't have another low mileage car that I am paying insurance and maintenance on.

Buy a new one every year, broom out the old one, and you do not get bored.

Each to their own. Having owned both, the Porsche is more comfortable in my opinion. The Corvettes are fatiguing to drive with no room to stretch legs, noise and a harsh ride. Porsches can be noisy with certain tires, but you can make the exhaust noise go away with a touch of a button.
