And, as I stated earlier, the job should cost what it's worth. I would not even begin to speculate what that cost would be without standing there with you and the boat.

Ps that's not fraud and I would still seriously like to hear the answer to my question with no comparison involved.

I'm not discussing this anymore because we are the complete opposite sides, so it's fruitless. If I get it right you think a customer should pay what the job is worth, or the amount of hours it could have taken, regardless of the actual hours. Your hourly rate should be set to cover all expenses, without having to charge more hours than you actually spend on a job. If your schedule isn't full, then work harder on marketing or selling your services better.

Engine still runs like shit, he's out of ideas and wanted to call a friend and charge me consulting hours for his friend

I have had a whole summer thread about my ‘friend’ helping me with overheating. Who cost me $1000 replacing parts for 3 MONTHS! He finally had no idea what problem was. Got
fed up. Took to REAL mechanics at marina next door who found problem in a couple hours and fixed in a few days. Would been quicker but a part was back ordered.
Kick that guy to curb, fk his friend, fk his consulting fees. Find a real mechanic and salvage whats left of you summer.

Dont stop me, I’m on a roll. My ‘friend/buddy’ charged me $300 to haul the boat, pull outdrive, look for blockage. When the Real mechanics pulled outdrive they told me they had a tough time getting it off cause it hadn’t been off in years. Ya i got scammed. Sounds like you in same situation.
