Has anyone installed the Polk Marine Speakers on their boat? Circuit City has the DB651 (6.5 inches) on sale for $99 / pair and 50% off for an additional set. They get good reviews on the forums that I have searched but would like to know what you think.

I used to have some of the dB6500 speakers on my previous boat. They were good for the price. Those were components with separate crossovers, though. Not sure about the coaxials.

I put a pair in the arch of my 290 and love them.

Would these fit in the cutouts that the stock ones are in? I would like to replace the stock ones as well.
LEt us know how they work out

Put a pair in my 240. No alteration required and sound great

Not sure about the speakers....but get some Dynamat and plug up the holes in the arch below and above the cutouts...half of your sound is going nowhere.

I'm not sure about the 651's but the polk Momo's Ive had for a year not are not yet installed because they don't fit. The hole is too big for the speaker. They came with an adapter ring but I would have to make the hole larger to fit it. I would take some measurements first before buying, especially if your local CC is one of the one's closing its doors. SB

I found this out the hard way. The factory holes for the Panasonic speakers are 5.5" They fit most oversize 6.5" (6.75") speakers. The dB line has some that fit. The Momo line definitely requires a 5" hole and does not fit without significant modification.

I replaced the two Panasonic speakers with Polk.... And then went on to add EIGHT more! Two in the bow and six on the tower...

I did have to slightly enlarge the two original openings where the Panasonics were located, but that was pretty easy!

True, Polk is not considered "High end" but believe me, they get the job done!

Teekster....so the dB line would fit better as replacements, without having to alter the holes?

That was the plan. Thanks for the advice...

I went to the Searay website and pulled the parts manual for my particular model and it indicates the size and brand of speaker. From the factory mine appear to be Panasonic 6.5 and I have crossover circuit with seperate tweeters. I will likely replace those later. I just wanted to get the deal from Circuit City. $99 for the pair and a second pair for half price. So for around $150, I can replace the ones in the cabin as well.

Be careful, I know when I ordered my JL 6.5s the hole cut by Sea Ray was bigger than they needed to be for these speakers so we had to customize it a little.:smt013

dB675 or 6750 (components) should work. I think I had to dremel the cutouts a little, though. The 651s are listed as needing a 5" mounting hole.

I bought 2 sets of the DB561 speakers this weekend at Circuit City. $99 for the first set and half price on the second set, plus I picked up a $15 off coupon at the store. So for around $140 I replaced the cockpit and cabin speakers. I just mounted all 4 in less than 45 minutes. They were a perfect replacement. No new screw holes to drill. They lined up perfectly. They are much better than the OEM Panasonic's. I thought that the ones in the cockpit were component type, but I found no cross over circuits. It appears they just remote the tweeters.

Crutchfield has the same deal on the speakers. I just put 4 on my 310 replacing the Clarion cockpit speakers. They sound great and should hold up a lot longer...the cones are made of carbon fiber.

Do you guys have amps as well or just stock speaker replacement?
