Dave S asked how Nehalennia's progress has come after this season. I've really tried to keep this thing clean and I've applied compounds, polishes and waxes here and there. Mo is at a Mother's of Multiples Convention ("Henfest") this weekend and my younger Daughter Mila is off dancing for said Henfest. I spent a few hours today with My 6 year Old Son helping compounding and polishing Nehalennia. I still have another couple coats of Polish to get her where I'd like before waxing it all up, but we're getting there.

For those that did not see her when or before I bought her she was pretty oxidized and needed some love.

ok, now we need to see before and after shots of your arms.

Looks great!!

Damn...I love getting results like that ! Makes all the hard work very worthwhile.

Todd,
With every turn of the rotary polisher, think of the $$ you have saved yourself over a new 260DA. I remind myself of this every time I put a coat of wax on Truly Blessed II.

Nice job.

How about a simple to understand step by step. For me I use a Teflon sink pad and wax through the season to get those little scuff marks off and keep it washed. Only wax it during the winter service as it seems to take me weeks to wax my beast. I do believe its my lack of experience in waxing. BTW yours looks great!!:smt038

That looks amazing. Do tell us what you did to make it shine like that!

Is your tow vehicle a 2500?

Todd you have done an outstanding job with the boat. Impressive gloss and depth of shine which is particularly hard to achieve on white gel coat.

Thanks everyone. She's still far from how I want to see her and I don't have a full coat of polish on her yet. I do plan to get to more complete coats of polish on there.

My method so far has been experimental with the products to get the base shine and all the oxidation off. The Oxidation was pretty chalky above the rub rail.

The compounding seemed to go best with 3M Super duty compound.

Then I had tried StarBrite's polish and It was ok, but listened to Jeremy's advice for the Meguiar's Polish. That stuff seems to work pretty well. I haven't gone through a whole bottle of that yet so you know I'm far from finished. The majority of what you've seen is Compounding only, but I'm kind of a perfectionist so I've maybe spent too much time compounding,(I want it all to be consistent looking before the next step) but am happy with the results. I've done two sizeable areas with the polish, but I need a full weekend of doing it.

I think I'll order some more polishing pads to resume polishing. Since all the heavy lifting is done and my arms will be glad not to wield the Makita Circular for awhile, it's time to start the PC7424 up and ride it for awhile.

Anyway thanks for the compliments. I'm doing some 12OZ curls now to loosen the shoulders up.

WOW!!!!!! What a great job!:wow:
Looking good Todd:thumbsup:

After the compounding step try out Meguires One Step Compound And Polish in the big blue bottle. I found that this takes out all the swirls and everything even with the rotary after compounding. Or slap a pad on the Porter Cable and use it with that, YOU WILL BE IMPRESSED

Thanks again guys. The Meguiar's #45 has proven to work OK< I ust need to re-read Jeremy's recommendations on the pad progression between the polish and wax(which ones to use with what). He uses different brand pads so I'll have to get that figured out next.
